Privacy Policy

This policy explains what the TripYara Android app and the tripyara.in website collect, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal data and do not use it for third-party advertising.
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, mobile number, home state and password. Your mobile number is verified with a one-time password and used to sign in. Passwords are stored in hashed form.
- Trip details: start point, destination, dates, travellers, transport, preferences and the itinerary we generate, plus packing lists, expenses, bookings and notes you add.
- Saved data: saved places and locations, vehicles, travel preferences and emergency contacts you choose to add.
- Feedback, reviews and reports about travel information that you send us.
Information from your device
- Location: requested only when you use a location-based feature and only while you use it. It is sent to our server for that request and is not tracked in the background.
- Physical activity: if you allow it, the app reads your phone's step counter to show steps and progress in My Fitness. Daily totals are saved to your account. You can turn this off in your phone's app permissions.
- Notifications: if you enable notifications, a device token is registered so we can send trip alerts, weather alerts or updates. You can switch each type off in the app.
- App usage and diagnostics: we use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used, such as screens viewed and features used, so we can improve it.
- Security records: when you request a one-time password we record the mobile number, time and IP address of the request to prevent abuse.
Data stored only on your phone
Trips you open are cached on your device so they are available offline. This copy stays on your phone and can be removed at any time in Profile → Offline Data, or by uninstalling the app.
The website
tripyara.in does not require an account. If analytics is enabled, we use Google Analytics to measure visits and clicks on download buttons, which uses cookies or similar technologies. We do not send names, phone numbers or other directly identifying details to analytics.

- To share a trip with the people you invite
- To send notifications you have turned on
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse
- To understand usage and improve the app and our travel information
Who we share it with
We share the minimum needed with service providers that run parts of TripYara for us:
- Hosting and database providers that run our servers
- AI model providers that turn your trip details into an itinerary — we send trip details such as places, dates and preferences, not your name or mobile number
- Google Maps Platform for maps, routes and place information, and a weather data provider for forecasts
- Messaging providers that deliver one-time passwords to your mobile number
- Google Firebase for notifications and app analytics
Other people
When you share a trip, its members can see the trip and each member's name and mobile number. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile and the trips you own are deleted, as described on Delete your account.
Your choices and rights
- Review and remove saved places, preferences, emergency contacts and offline trips in the app at any time.
- Turn off location, activity and notification permissions in your phone's settings.
- Delete your account and associated data — see Delete your account.
- Ask us about the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.
Children
TripYara is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
