How to prepare your trip before you lose mobile network
Last updated
On many Indian road trips — Ladakh, Spiti, the Northeast, forest routes — you will lose mobile data for hours at a time. The fix is simple: prepare everything you need while you still have a connection.
The night before: save your plan
- Open your full itinerary and route for every day of the trip so it is saved on your phone.
- Download an offline map of the region in a navigation app that supports it.
- Screenshot or note hotel addresses, phone numbers and booking references.
- Save permit copies and ID as files on your phone, and carry printed copies.
- Charge your phone and power bank fully.
Emergency information
- Save emergency contacts — family, your stay, and anyone in your group.
- Note India's emergency number 112 and the nearest hospital on each day's route.
- Tell someone your route and when you expect to reach network again.
Fuel and cash
- Find the last fuel station before each long stretch and fill up there.
- Carry enough cash; card machines and ATMs depend on network.
On the road
- Keep your phone in battery saver mode when you do not need it.
- When you reach network, check the weather and road status for the next day.
- Start long days early so you are not driving remote roads after dark.
How TripYara helps
TripYara saves your itinerary, day plan, route details and emergency contacts on your phone when you open a trip while connected, so they are there when the signal is not. It does not replace an offline navigation map. Learn how offline trips work.
